Dermikelp is a soothing skincare range containing naturally derived sea kelp, designed to hydrate and calm sensitive skin through a simple three-step routine.
The Brief
This concept project explored how natural skincare products can be repositioned through thoughtful brand and packaging redesign. The challenge was to create packaging that visually communicated the product's ocean-derived sea kelp ingredient whilst feeling contemporary and premium. The design needed to stand out in the crowded skincare market and appeal to consumers seeking gentle, dermatologically-tested solutions for sensitive skin.
The Solution
I developed packaging and brand identity using beautiful watercolour illustrations in ocean blues that directly referenced the sea kelp origins. The flowing, organic watercolour aesthetic created a calming, natural feel whilst maintaining a clean, modern look through simple typography and clear product hierarchy.
The design system worked cohesively across the Body Essentials Starter Kit packaging, pump bottles and tube formats, with each product clearly labelled for the three-step routine: Cleanse, Moisturise and Soothe. The soft blue palette and artistic watercolour treatment communicated the product's gentle, soothing properties, positioning Dermikelp as a premium natural skincare range that combines effectiveness with thoughtful, beautiful design.
