A concept bar and kitchen created as a personal branding project exploring how interior design sensibilities can translate into hospitality branding.
The Brief
Two interior designers wanted to open a bar and kitchen that felt approachable yet stylish. The challenge was creating a brand that welcomed casual drinkers whilst elevating the venue above typical local competition. The owners' design backgrounds and complementary personalities needed to be reflected in the brand identity, positioning Roost as a thoughtfully designed space rather than just another bar.
The Solution
I developed the name 'Roost' and created a distinctive logomark featuring two interlocking R's to represent both owners and the business name. By incorporating patterns within the letterforms and encasing them in a diamond shape, I created a versatile mark that could be separated and used independently across different applications.
The brand identity uses a rich blue and gold colour palette that feels premium and considered, whilst a simple, clean typeface keeps the overall feeling approachable and friendly. This balance ensures the brand appeals to both design-conscious diners and those simply looking for a welcoming place to drink.
The flexible identity system works across menus, signage, glassware and digital touchpoints, creating a cohesive brand experience that reflects the owners' design expertise.
